• The sixties of the twentieth century meant the beginning of a new stage in the educational project of Pere Verges. In 1967 became effective provision of Josep Maria Porcioles, Mayor of Barcelona between 1957 and 1973, which provided for the transfer of control of municipal schools in Franco government. This provision jeopardizes the work from the beginning of the century until then had made the public and in the first years of the sixties had taken a new flying through the creation of training centers for innovative teachers.

• This triggered the creation in 1965 of the School Garbí in Esplugues de Llobregat. The proximity of his retirement and will of survival of its educational model Pere Verges encouraged to plan the creation of a new school. This project had the support of a good number of followers, collaborators and friends. Among them, we should mention the work done by his son, Robert Verges.

• The will to survive Pere Verges make the model of the Sea School and its educational project, forced to look for a suitable space to build a new building, according to his ideas, was conceived as a small city, where a diner is the center of the activities of the School, in the style of the Greek agora.

• The Mediterranean spirit of the school is also reflected in its non-: West, one of the "winds of the world" and also named a strong and penetrating odor. The name of the school is also linked with the Sea School, SW as was the name of one of the classes from the center of Barceloneta and the magazine are published.
